Boko Haram has threatened to capture President Muhammadu Buhari.
The group made the threat via a new video posted on YouTube on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.
The video shows a group of terrorists observing prayers in commemoration of the recently concluded Eid-el-Kabir festival.
“This is our eid
prayer from us and by the support of our leader Imam Abubakar Al-Shekau.
We are extending our greetings to our people and fighters,” the terrorists said according to Premium Times.
“Message
to the infidels and the leader of the entire infidels (kafir) who is
the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, that he should know we are
very strong and doing very good.
“By the will of Allah under the leadership of our leader (Shekau) will capture Buhari with our hands,” they added.
The
video comes exactly one month after Boko Haram released a clip showing a
group of the abducted Chibok girls with a terrorist.
The
sect is demanding the release of its detained members in exchange for
the girls and the Buhari administration has said that it is willing to
negotiate with the terrorists.
Boko Haram is in the middle of a leadership crisis due to the removal of eccentric leader, Abubakar Shekau by the Islamic State (ISIS).
ISIS named former Boko Haram spokesman, Abu Musab al-Barnawi as the group’s leader via an issue of its magazine.
Shekau
however rejected the announcement and said that he had been deceived by
ISIS which he pledged allegiance to in March 2015.
