Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, who recently denied that John Mikel Obi paid $4,000 to free the Olympic football squad after the team was held to ransom by hotel officials in Sao Paulo over bills incurred by additional Nigerian Football Federation Officials.
It now appears as if those words were swallowed because it has now been confirmed on their website www.thenff.com that such an incident occurred.
" The NFF however reports that the Ministry of Youth and Sport has refunded to Captain Mikel Obi " the $4,000 he paid for the team in Sao Paulo on their way to Salvador."
