The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima yesterday blamed Boko Haram as the major caused of Polio resurgence in Borno. While speaking yesterday the governor said inability of health officials to access remote areas held by the group is the reason for the resurgence of polio in the state.
Shettima said two areas in the state where the recent outbreak occured could not be accessed from December2013 to early 2016.
The recent detection of polio in Borno means Nigeria's hopes of having polio cases in three consecutive years has been dashed.
