FG Denies Removing CRK From Secondary School Curriculum

The Federal Ministry of Education has debunked reports that Christian Religious Knowledge, CRK, has been removed as a subject of study from the curriculum of public secondary schools in Nigeria while Islamic Religious Studies, IRS, has been reintroduced.

Debunking the report, Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Chinenye Ihuoma, pointed out that the ministry had designed a new subject which merged Civic Education, IRS, CRK and Social Studies into “Religion and National Values.”

Mrs. Ihuoma told reporters that, “The alternation is not from the minister, this is purely from the National Council on Education. It is just as the council has said that History should be a subject of its own at the basic level in the first nine years.

“Now, a new subject has been introduced, called Religion and National Values. It is a fusion of religion and civics.

“I have not seen the details but in a case where you have subject combinations in the same period, everyone will attend lectures that correspond with their own religion.

“Arabic and Islamic Studies are not standing alone. Islamic Religious Study and Christian Religious Study as well as national values will be taught under a new subject.”

Alinko Dangote Opens Up, Nigeria Loses 120bn To Apapa Gridlocks Everyday

The man behind the wheel of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has estimated that the country is losing about N140 billion weekly to traffic gridlocks on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos, the access road to Nigeria’s main sea ports.

While spekaing to the journalist in Lagos yesterday, He said: “The economy loses more than N20 billion daily and N140 billion weekly. It affects businesses across the country. All our operations in the hinterland in Ilorin, in Kano are operating at 40 per cent maximum capacity.”

Commenting on his resolve to personally get involved in the Apapa Wharf road reconstruction, he said: “Because it is very embarrassing! We can’t just sit and have a road like that where it is the heart of the trade of the country. More than 60 per cent of our country’s import and exports come through the port and we leave it un-attended. That is why we started on our own. Flour Mills said they will join us, but now government changed the design because they want all the cables and pipes underground and to have a more robust solution.”

Jose Mourinho Denies Spanish Tax Accusation

The Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has released a statement through his agent Jorge Mendes' company Gestifute to stress that he is "in compliance" with all his tax obligations and has not heard anything to the contrary from the Spanish tax authorities.

The ex Real Madrid manager  was accused of defrauding tax authorities to the tune of €3.3million by a Spanish regional prosecutor, with a complaint filed on Tuesday.

Mourinho is under suspicion of having committed two offences in relation to personal income tax, but the 54-year-old has denied any wrongdoing.

"Jose Mourinho, who lived in Spain from June 2010 until May 2013, paid more than €26 million in taxes, with an average tax rate over 41 per cent, and accepted the regularization proposals made by the Spanish tax authorities in 2015 regarding the years of 2011 and 2012 and entered into a settlement agreement regarding 2013," a statement on the Gestifute website

What Happened Has Beyounce Gone Into Labor?

No one can really confirm anything because Queen B and Jay Z do an excellent job of making sure absolutely nothing about their lives is leaked to the public (cue the surprise Beyoncé visual album drop).

However, it's important to note that—thanks to a Shade Room report—the Beyhive has been rampantly buzzing over speculation that their queen may have been admitted to the hospital and gone into labor...and let's be honest, no one knows better than those wildly dedicated fans.

But if you had any doubt, you can bet their speculation comes with receipts:

A fleet of Escalades photographed leaving the couple's los angeles home

She's been admitted to an L.A.-based hospital

Her hairstylist posted an interesting photo, saying "Hang in there, Mama!"

She already had a Push Party

Nigeria Regains Africa's Top Oil Producer Status

When talking about the top Oil producing countries in Africa it's widely known that Nigeria is the front runner but the country lost the status to Angola but as a result of the return of the Forcados export terminal, the nation’s oil production has surpassed that of its rival, Angola, the latest data from the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries has shown.

Nigeria, which again lost its Africa’s top oil producer status to Angola in January after it regained it in November last year, recorded the biggest increase in output among its peers in the OPEC last month.

For nine months in 2016, Nigeria lagged behind its southern African counterpart in oil production on the back of the resurgence of militant attacks on oil facilities in the Niger Delta.

Bellerin Keen To Join Barcelona Says Suarez

The Arsenal FC full-back Hector Bellerin is keen on ditching the Premier League in favour of a return to Barcelona, his Spain Under-21 team-mate Denis Suarez has suggested.

The Catalan club are determined to add a right-back to the squad having failed to replace Dani Alves following the Brazilian's move to Juventus last year, with Bellerin their main target.

After three full seasons with the first team, however, reports linking him with a return to Camp Nou have intensified and Arsenal's failure to qualify for the Champions League next season is reported to be the deciding factor.

With Arsene Wenger rebuilding his squad ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign, Bellerin is rumoured to have the option to leave for La Liga, and midfielder Suarez believes his international colleague is keen on a move.

"I have spoken to him [Bellerin] and from one side he wants to join Barca, but from the other he feels very attached to Arsenal. It is a hard situation and I am nobody to be speaking about this, but I wish he can come."

Manchester United Completes Lindelof Signing

Manchester United have announced the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica on Wednesday in a deal worth up to €45 million (£40m).

The 20-time English champions confirmed on Saturday that they had agreed terms with the Swede’s club regarding a transfer fee, and on Wednesday Lindelof passed his medical and put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old centre-back is United’s first signing of the summer, with Jose Mourinho saying in a club release: “Victor is a very talented young player, who has a great future ahead of him at United. Our season last year showed us that we need options and quality to add depth to the squad and Victor is the first to join us this summer. I know that our fantastic group of players will welcome him as one of us."

Lindelof added: “I am thrilled to be joining Manchester United. I have enjoyed my time at Benfica enormously and I have learned a lot there. But I’m looking forward to playing in the Premier League at Old Trafford and for Jose Mourinho. I’m keen to get started and make my contribution to the team’s efforts to win more trophies.”

United will pay an initial €35m (£30.9m), with the remainder of the balance to be handed over if certain agreed targets are met during the course of the defender’s stay in Manchester.
